Situational Awareness Test — the video

What to look for

Resist the urge to fixate on any one person or object. Try to hold the whole frame in view at once, the way you would scan a room you'd just walked into. Notice where your eyes naturally settle, and how often you have to pull them back out to the wider scene.

What you should know

Most viewers can describe one or two things they focused on in detail, and almost nothing about the rest of the scene. That's not a lapse in concentration — it's how attention naturally allocates itself when nobody tells you what to prioritise. Building situational awareness is less about trying harder and more about deliberately rotating your attention across a scene instead of letting it lock onto whatever moves first.
